Lack of Contrition, inspired by Joshua Duttweiler’s Reconciliation, is a series of self portraits that addresses finding resolve without receiving an apology for wrongdoing. Amy Joon transfers these photographs to paper, distorting the image as a commentary on self identity and value. These images are combined with text taken from letters of friends, partners, and family members, all of which she has strained relationships with. Confronting these texts and creating this work is an attempt to find that resolution.
